Work issues or starting a new job
Work issues
Few times are more stressful than issues with your managers, co-workers or job. For most people, instructing a lawyer to help with these issues is prohibitively expensive.
Citizens Advice can help, but we at legli are encouraging low-cost service providers to assist by providing straightforward advice via the legli platform. Simply login and ask our Luci chatbot, ‘Who can help with my employment issue?’.
If you prefer to act for yourself to begin with, you can use legli to generate one or more letters to your employer, stating your position in a non-contentious format. It’s easy (and free) to fill in your employer contact details, select the right letter, complete the variables, then email it to your manager, HR department or manager’s manager.
At legli, we believe in mediation as an early option for resolving disputes. Increasingly, courts around the world, especially in the UK and Australia, are pressing litigants to try mediation before going to court, even making mediation virtually compulsory. This is because mediation works: it’s relatively quick, low-cost and private, preserving or even building relationships, rather than destroying them as litigation does.
Accordingly, we are offering low-cost mediation services that we invite your employer to pay for. It is estimated that the loss of an employee costs an employer that employee’s annual salary, so most employers also prefer employment issues to be solved on a cost-effective basis.
Starting a new job
Most people are thrilled to be starting a new job, and rightly so – it’s an exciting time full of possibility. Important legal documents include the letter of offer, the proposed employment contract and associated policies.
Employment contracts are of course written by employers, and are designed to serve their needs. Unless you are sufficiently well-paid to instruct a lawyer on, who is protecting your interests?
To help solve this imbalance, Legli is training an AI-driven employment contract review system so that you can confidentially compare your employment agreement with standard agreements to ensure that your agreement is not missing any clauses and protects you as well as your employer.
